We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join a busy transport and logistics operation. This is a hands-on role responsible for planning and coordinating daily deliveries through a network of approved subcontracted transport providers.
Working closely with customers, warehouse teams, sales colleagues and transport providers, you will ensure deliveries are planned efficiently, customer requirements are met and any operational issues are resolved quickly.

We are looking for someone with:
Previous experience as a Transport Planner or Logistics Planner.
Experience working with subcontracted carriers or third-party transport providers.
Strong route planning and scheduling experience.
Experience using a Transport Management System (TMS) or route planning software.
Experience working in a fast-paced transport or logistics environment.
Experience managing Proof of Delivery (POD) processes.
Good geographical knowledge.
Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to prioritise competing demands and make confident decisions under pressure.
Good commercial awareness, with the ability to balance customer service and transport costs.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Competence using Microsoft Office applications.
It would be advantageous if you have experience within:
Construction materials
Manufacturing
Industrial distribution
Integrated transport planning systems
Transport performance reporting and KPIs
Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance would also be beneficial.
You will be a highly organised and methodical individual who remains calm under pressure and takes a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
You will need to be confident communicating with customers, subcontractors and colleagues, while being comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
Flexibility is important, as the role will involve responding to changing operational requirements and customer demands.
