Job summary

Irlam Associates in Corby is seeking an organised Transport Planner / Coordinator to join its busy logistics operation on a dedicated contract. You will plan and coordinate daily transport, allocate drivers and vehicles, and develop efficient, compliant routes to meet customer needs.

You’ll work closely with drivers, customers and internal teams, monitor performance, manage paperwork, and keep the transport management system up to date, ensuring on-time deliveries and high service levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning, fleet coordination or similar logistics role.
• Experience planning an HGV fleet is strongly preferred.
• Good understanding of drivers’ hours and transport compliance.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stay calm and make decisions in a busy transport environment.
• Good geographical knowledge and route-planning ability.
• Confident IT skills and experience using transport planning or fleet management systems.
• Reliable, organised and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily transport operations for a dedicated customer contract.

• Manage delivery paperwork, PODs and transport documentation.
• Update the transport management system with accurate planning information.
• Resolve problems quickly to protect service levels and minimise disruption.
• Support the wider transport team when required.

The Opportunity

An established transport and logistics business is looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner / Coordinator to join its operation in Corby.

This position will focus on planning and coordinating transport activity for a dedicated customer contract, giving you direct ownership of its daily operation. You will ensure deliveries are planned efficiently, drivers and vehicles are utilised effectively, and the customer receives a reliable and responsive service.
