Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is seeking a Transport Planner for our Oldham site on a full-time permanent basis. Salary: £32,000 per annum. Working hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm. You will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation and coordinate across UK facilities.

Key duties include subcontracting, planning workloads, and liaising with internal teams to maintain high performance. Strong problem solving and adaptability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily workload for a fleet of vehicles based across the UK.
• Subcontracting and planning orders across multiple warehouse facilities and sites.
• Handle queries via telephone, fax and email from customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaise with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain high performance.
• Maintain and update spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Report problems and handle queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as required.
• Complete pre- and post-briefs for driver shifts.
• Deliver professional internal and external communications.

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Oldham site on a full time permanent basis! Salary: £32,000 per annum. Working hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm. As a Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications

• Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
• Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Be able to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
• Have a flexible and, adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
• Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
• Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
• Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
