Job summary

Great Bear in Minworth is seeking a Transport Planner for a full-time permanent role. You will oversee day-to-day transport operations and plan daily workloads for our fleet across UK sites.

The role requires strong problem solving, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure and adapt during peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily workload for fleet based on and off site.
• Handle queries by telephone, fax and email from customers and sub-contractors.
• Coordinate with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain high performance.
• Maintain and update spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Support fleet and driver training as required.
• Complete pre and post de-briefs for driver shifts.
• Deliver professional and timely internal and external communications.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our friendly team at our Minworth site on a full time permanent basis!

Salary: £30,690 per annum.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

As a Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications

• Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
• Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
• Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
• Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
