Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, seeks a Transport Planner at its Oldham site to oversee day-to-day transport planning and deliver cost-effective solutions for customers. The role operates Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm, with a salary of £32,000 per annum and a supportive team environment.

You will manage subcontracting, plan fleet workloads, coordinate with traffic and admin teams, and maintain performance metrics while ensuring clear communications across the business.

Responsibilities

• Subcontracting and planning orders across multiple UK warehouse facilities and sites.
• Plan daily workload for a fleet of vehicles on and off site.
• Handle queries from customers, subcontract hauliers and warehousing sites via phone, fax and email.
• Liaise with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain high performance.
• Maintain, create and update spreadsheets and databases for reports.
• Report problems and resolve queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as required.
• Complete pre- and post-debrief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver timely internal and external communications.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Oldham site on a full time permanent basis!

Salary:£32,000 per annum.

Working hours:Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.

As a Transport Planner you willoverseethe day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications

• Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
• Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Be able to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
• Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
• Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
• Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
• Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
