Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is recruiting a Transport Planner for our Oldham site. This is a full-time permanent role with hours 10am–6pm, Monday to Friday.

You will oversee day-to-day transport planning, coordinate subcontractors, plan daily workloads, and work with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain high service standards across the UK.

Salary £32,000 per annum. A proactive, analytical mindset and ability to perform under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle queries from customers, sub-contract hauliers and sites via telephone, fax and email.
• Coordinate with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain performance standards.
• Maintain and update spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Provide internal and external communications and reporting.
• Support fleet and driver training as required.
• Complete pre- and post-briefs for driver shifts.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Oldham site on a full time permanent basis!

Salary: £32,000 per annum.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.

As a Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications

• Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
• Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Be able to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
• Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
• Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
• Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
• Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
