An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Transport Operations Safety Manager within Merton. The main duties will include:

1. Ensuring the effective and efficient management of driver safety and compliance services, ensuring the London Borough of Merton complies with its legal responsibilities and discharges its duty of care to all colleagues working in and around vehicles.
2. Being the Council’s lead on-site officer for all matters relating to driver health and safety, ensuring compliance with current and evolving legislation, industry best practices, and LBM Codes of Practice. Ensuring staff are appropriately briefed and trained.
3. Being responsible for ensuring all services are cost-effective, adopting a commercial approach, and delivering high standards in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
4. Ensuring a safe and comfortable travelling environment for all Merton Transport Services (MTS) managed passenger journeys.
5. Providing expert advice and knowledge regarding the use of third-party service providers to deliver transport solutions. Supporting inspections of vehicles and/or depots to confirm compliance.
