Job description

Job Title: H&S Manager - Fit Out & Refurbishment

We are seeking a H&S Manager for a reputable Main Contractor specializing in Fit Out & Refurbishment projects based in South London. The company operates across London and the M25, with an annual turnover of approximately £30 million. Projects range from £2 million to £15 million, focusing on commercial and residential refurbishments and fit outs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Promoting and maintaining site-wide commitment to high health and safety standards.
  2. Advising site management and staff on health and safety matters.
  3. Maintaining the IMS to relevant ISO standards.
  4. Conducting compliance inspections and audits on-site.
  5. Assisting in the development and review of method statements, risk assessments, and work packages.
  6. Investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes.
  7. Reviewing compliance documentation from company and subcontractors.
  8. Preparing health and safety documentation and plans, including Construction Phase Plans, Fire Plans, and Traffic Management Plans.
  9. Promoting behavioral safety initiatives among operatives and staff.
  10. Representing the company at client health and safety meetings.
  11. Providing weekly updates to line management.

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
  • Membership of IOSH or an equivalent professional body.
  • Experience working with main contractors.
  • Multi-sector experience including residential, industrial, commercial, education, and healthcare projects.
