Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to lead daily transport operations and drive performance across the network. This permanent role offers broad exposure across transport functions and includes managing a team of 4-6 direct reports.

You will ensure driver, fleet and transport compliance while delivering KPI targets in a fast-paced environment and developing drivers and frontline managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This is a Transport Shift Manager position within a fast-paced operation.
• The role is evolving and will include responsibility for both the Compliance and Routing teams, providing broader exposure across different areas of the transport function.
• The successful candidate will manage a team of 4-6 direct reports, who will in turn have their own teams reporting into them.
• Proven experience leading transport operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Managing and developing drivers, team leaders and frontline managers.
• Ensuring driver, fleet and transport compliance standards are maintained.
• Driving operational performance, productivity and KPI delivery.
• Managing workforce planning and resource allocation.
• Promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational excellenceHandling performance management, employee relations and team development.
• Building strong relationships across transport and warehouse operations to deliver customer-focused service

CRITERIA

• Previous experience within both Transport and Operations is essential.
• Must have worked in a busy, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Prior people management experience is required, with experience leading teams through others being highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of transport compliance and operational processes.
• CPC qualification would be advantageous.
• Looking for someone who can effectively manage multiple workstreams and develop teams across different operational functions.
