Job summary

365 People on behalf of a growing family-run transport business seeks an experienced Transport Planner to join their Newcastle-under-Lyme operation. You will plan and coordinate daily transport, allocate fleet and drivers, and monitor live operations to keep delays minimal and customers satisfied.

You'll work closely with the Transport Operations Manager, ensuring compliance with drivers’ hours, working time regulations and transport legislation while maintaining strong service levels and

Qualifications

• Previous transport planning experience.
• Strong knowledge of the UK road network.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Good understanding of transport legislation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise daily transport schedules.
• Allocate vehicles and drivers to maximise fleet utilisation.
• Monitor live transport operations and respond to delays or issues.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and subcontractors throughout the day.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations and transport legislation.
• Manage transport documentation, KPIs and operational reports.
• Support continuous improvement across the transport operation.
• Maintain excellent customer service and communication.
