Job summary

Menzies Distribution Solutions Ltd in Corby is seeking an experienced Transport Operator (Backshift) to manage and execute the Day 1 Plan for the delivery of customer products. You will coordinate with planners, monitor live runs, and ensure timely, cost-effective transport using available resources.

The role requires knowledge of transport operations, driver hours rules, and strong IT skills. A full UK driving licence is essential, with focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport operations and busy transport office.
• Knowledge of Driver Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Strong administration and IT skills.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with planners to meet delivery windows.
• Track and trace own fleet and inform Transport planner of updates.
• Communicate delays to customers via service teams or out-of-hours processes.
• Manage Subcontractors Portal for day-1 plan communications.
• Provide up-to-date ETAs for re-planning delayed consignments.
• Monitor compliance on the TMS system and driver behavior.
• Be trained on driver tracking systems and related software.
• Assist revenue capture by processing returns and demurrage when appropriate.
