Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council's Children’s Services invites a proactive Project Officer to join the Directorate Management Team. You will support delivery of improvement, transformation and innovation across major programmes, including Families First and SEND reform.

You will coordinate governance, improve processes and explore digital, automation and AI-enabled approaches to reduce bureaucracy and free up staff time for children and families.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting projects, programmes or service improvement.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Experience with digital transformation, automation or AI-enabled tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Children's Services Forward Plan and governance.
• Support major transformation programmes across Children's Services.
• Improve reporting and tracking to strengthen accountability.
• Coordinate Cabinet Spokesperson Briefings and senior leadership priorities.
• Support directorate meetings and programme coordination.
• Coordinate staff communications and events.
• Identify challenges and implement practical process improvements.
• Develop digital, automation and AI-enabled approaches to improve efficiency.
• Gather and present information to support decisions.
