Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Boreham, Chelmsford is seeking a Transfer Station Manager to run the site, ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance while delivering first-class customer service.

You will lead and coach the team, monitor the full P&L, control costs, negotiate with suppliers and work with regional management to drive growth and best-practice. The role requires hands-on leadership and strong relationship skills.

Qualifications

• COTC certification.
• IOSH Certificate.
• Experience as Operations Manager or similar in Services or Logistics.
• People and health & safety management in a unionised environment.
• Proven track record delivering clearly defined service delivery KPI’s.
• Proven track record of continuous improvement in operations.
• P&L experience (Ideally).
• Good transport / logistics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage the transfer station and ensure HSE compliance.
• Deliver first-class customer service and promote engagement to improve productivity.
• Monitor and control the full P&L budget of the facility.
• Negotiate with third-party suppliers and collaborate with regional management.
• Develop site strategy and drive continuous improvement.
