Job summary

Biffa Group in Taunton is seeking a Depot Manager to lead tanker depot operations, overseeing scheduling, routes and compliance, while balancing people, process and financial performance.

You will coach depot teams, drive operational efficiency and ensure full regulatory compliance, including health and safety standards, waste and transport regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience, ideally in bulk liquid waste or transport/logistics.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.
• Good commercial and financial awareness with budgeting experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day depot operations including scheduling, routing and disposal of tankered waste.
• Drive operational efficiency and performance by improving processes and optimal use of resources.
• Coach and develop depot teams, fostering accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Champion health and safety, conduct audits and address risks proactively.
• Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers, addressing queries and service issues.
• Manage depot budgets, costs and revenue targets using KPIs and financial data.
• Ensure compliance with waste, transport, permits and Working Time Directive.
• Continuously improve performance, implement cost-saving initiatives and stay updated on regulation and best practice.
