Job summary

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) invites applications for a Training Support Officer. The role is based in the UK with home-based or Northern Area Office locations (KY11 2XH). Part-time, 3 days/21 hours per week, fixed term to Sept 2026.

You will support area Training Managers and district teams to deliver training plans, coordinate training packages, and mentor volunteers. You will work to improve instructor capability, manage youth-focused training activity, and help ensure equitable

Qualifications

• Experience in coordinating and supporting a programme of training activity.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring volunteers.
• Experience in drawing data to create support plans for delivery of activity.
• Experienced trainer with the ability to deliver engaging and impactful training.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional support to area Training Managers and District/TRO/DSO teams to deliver and amend training plans.
• Support District Teams including DTOs, DRO/DDOs, DSO, and Trp Cdrs as needed.
• Grow certificated, current instructors and develop District Instructors to deliver training for cadets and volunteers.
• Support ATOs/DTOs/RMC Troops on training matters including uniformed and unit management.
• Coordinate MSSC and other training packages (BTEC, Duke of Edinburgh, CyberFirst) for cadets.
• Monitor performance against targets set by National Support Centre to ensure equitable access to the Sea Cadet Experience.
• Engage with youth groups and understand challenges faced by young people.
• Coordinate and support a programme of training activity.
• Coach and mentor volunteers and draw data to create delivery support plans.
