Job summary

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) are seeking a Training Support Officer to enable district training and Royal Marine Cadet activity at troop level. The role can be home-based or office-based, with regular evening and weekend work to support volunteers via virtual meetings and online training.

You will liaise with district training managers and officers, help plan and deliver targeted training, and coordinate MSSC and partner training packages across districts.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth groups and understanding challenges faced by young people.
• Experience coordinating and supporting a programme of training activity.
• Experience coaching and mentoring volunteers.
• Experience drawing data to create support plans for delivery of activity.
• Experienced trainer able to deliver engaging and impactful training.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional support to District and RMC Troop teams to deliver training per the Sea Cadets Learning Strategy.
• Support District Teams including DTO, DRO/DDO, DSO, and Trp Cdr as needed under change management.
• Work with District Officers to increase certificated instructors and develop District Instructors’ capability.
• Assist ATOs/DTOs/RMC Troops with training matters, including uniformed and unit management teams.
• Coordinate MSSC and other approved training packages (e.g., BTEC, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, CyberFirst).
• Monitor performance against targets to ensure equitable access to Sea Cadet Experience.
