Who This Role Is Perfect For

You could be:

  • An automation, controls, DCS, PLC, commissioning, or process engineer who enjoys mentoring colleagues, training customers, and sharing technical knowledge.
  • A technical trainer with an industrial or engineering background who wants to specialise in advanced automation technologies.
  • A subject matter expert who is passionate about helping others learn and excited by the opportunity to build a training capability from the ground up.

What matters most is your ability to make complex technical concepts easy to understand and your enthusiasm for developing people.

What You’ll Be Doing

Delivering Customer Value

  • Deliver technical training on Valmet’s automation solutions, including DNA DCS, QCS, and analyser systems.
  • Develop and manage the UK training schedule, including standard and customer-specific programmes.
  • Support the growth of Valmet’s training business by expanding customer engagement and training offerings.
  • Help customers maximize the value of their automation investments through effective knowledge transfer.

Driving Internal Capability

  • Support the Western Europe region in the rollout of DNAe with training across the area
  • Deliver structured training programmes for automation engineers

Building the Future Talent Pipeline

  • Coach and mentor engineers and early-career professionals, supporting their technical growth and career development.
  • Contribute to building a strong internal capability by sharing knowledge and best practices across teams.
  • Support onboarding and upskilling initiatives for new employees.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and professional development.

Developing Training Excellence

  • Design, develop, and continuously enhance engaging technical learning experiences across classroom, hands‑on, virtual, and digital environments.
  • Leverage learner feedback, training analytics, and industry developments to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure learning programmes align with business objectives and deliver measurable impact for customers and employees.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • Background in automation engineering, DCS systems, or technical training within process industries such as paper or energy.
  • 1-3+ years of experience delivering technical training, facilitating workshops, coaching teams, or transferring technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as Valmet DNA or equivalent systems.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical environments is an advantage.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Passion for developing people and sharing knowledge.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how training contributes to customer success and business growth.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across international and cross‑functional teams.
  • Curious, proactive, and enthusiastic about continuous learning.
