Job summary

Automation Experts is seeking a Trainer for Automation Control Systems in Derbyshire. You will design and deliver hands‑on training programs covering PLCs, SCADA, HMIs and industrial automation systems to upskill engineers and technicians across diverse automation domains.

The role involves creating manuals, presentations and practical workshop exercises, delivering engaging sessions, coaching on protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP) and tracking trainee progress.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or similar.
  • Strong experience with industrial automation systems (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley or Schneider).
  • Solid understanding of control systems, instrumentation and industrial networking.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and with confidence.
  • Troubleshooting mindset with hands‑on engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs covering PLCs, SCADA, HMIs and industrial automation systems.
  • Create training materials including manuals, presentations and practical workshop exercises.
  • Deliver classroom and hands‑on technical training sessions.
  • Train engineers on industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet and TCP/IP.
  • Assess trainee performance and provide technical coaching and feedback.
  • Support troubleshooting and real‑world problem‑solving exercises.
  • Work closely with project teams to align training with operational and industry requirements.
  • Help maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness.
