Job summary

Volvo Penta Industrial in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Technical Trainer & Development Specialist to lead competence development across the Industrial unit. You will drive training initiatives, identify capability gaps, and design impactful learning solutions in collaboration with service and application engineers.

You will monitor readiness, develop plans aligned with new product launches, and deliver technical training across multiple topics, while maintaining facilities and materials to high

Qualifications

• Engineering or Electrical diploma/degree qualifications or equivalent Industrial experience.
• IMI Level 3 or 4 EV qualification or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of modern engines and control systems and fault-finding techniques.
• Experience with electrical systems, CAN systems, fuel systems, EATS, diagnostics, EV/BESS, and ICE technologies.
• Experience developing training solutions, identifying competence gaps, and creating effective development plans and materials.
• Confident communicating technical information to a broad range of audiences, adapting approach for clear learning experiences.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital learning systems.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end responsibility for competence development within UK & Ireland Industrial unit.
• Collaborate with Service Engineer and Application Engineer to shape and deliver development initiatives.
• Identify capability gaps and design learning solutions aligned with product launches.
• Monitor capability levels and create training plans based on priorities.
• Deliver engaging technical training across service, applications, commercial, and systems topics.
• Manage training activities, scheduling, records, and digital competence tools.
• Support train-the-trainer activities and central training events.
• Maintain high-quality training facilities, equipment, and materials with safety and QA standards.
