Job summary

Landmarc Support Services seeks a Training Area Operative to help maintain the Defence Training Estate, ensuring safety and efficiency for Armed Forces training. The role suits someone enthusiastic about outdoor work with a can-do attitude and a readiness for on-site tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience or ability in landscape and grounds maintenance.
• Solid understanding of health & safety and COSHH protocols.
• A valid manual UK driving licence is essential.
• Experience working in a rural environment and range/training areas is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Defence Training Estate in top condition.
• Carry out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Grounds and landscape maintenance across sites.
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment (training provided).
• Manufacture and deploy targets when required.
• Test and calibrate equipment and systems.
• Drive and operate fleet vehicles as needed.
• Manage waste and vegetation following safety rules.
• Use warning systems, training control offices, flags and lights.
• Complete documentation using IT and paper-based systems.

Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team . In this role you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.

What You’ll Do

• To ensure that the Defence Training Estateis kept in top condition
• Carry out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks
• Grounds and Landscape Maintenance
• Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)
• Manufacturing and deploying targets
• Equipment testing calibrating
• Driving and operating fleet vehicles
• Waste and Vegetation management
• Use of Warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights
• Ensure that the facilities adhere to strict safety protocols
• Complete all necessary documentation using both IT and paper-based systems

What We’re Looking For

• Knowledge of Landscape Maintenance and Grounds Maintenance
• Basic IT skills with ability to use a tablet
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced team environment
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH protocols and risk assessments
• Flexibility to cover additional sites
• A valid Manual UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role
• Knowledge of working in a rural environment
• Knowledge of range assignment instructions and range standing orders
• Experience of track ad fencing maintenance
• Experience as a range / training area user
