Job summary

New Art Gallery Walsall is seeking a Trainee Visitor Experience Assistant to join our Visitor Experience Team. This role supports front-of-house operations, events and learning activities while you gain hands-on experience in arts administration.

The position is 18.5 hours per week, fixed for 12 months, with a training allowance of about £12,206 per annum (£12.65 per hour). The placement is open to disabled applicants only and aims to provide practical support for workshops and Sunday Art Club.

Qualifications

  • Interest in art and good customer service skills.
  • Understanding of administration and basic computer use.
  • Able to work as part of a Visitor Experience Team.

Responsibilities

  • Support Visitor Experience Team with day-to-day activities, events and front of house operations.
  • Prepare and set up for events and workshops.
  • Welcome visitors to the Gallery and assist in the Gallery Shop.
  • Assist with stock ordering and produce learning resources including for the Sunday Art Club.

The New Art Gallery Walsall

The New Art Gallery Walsall presents, collects and interprets Art in innovative and challenging ways, welcoming visitors from all over the globe as well as our immediate locality. We develop a wide range of activities and events to increase the understanding and enjoyment of arts and culture for a range of audiences including schools, colleges, universities, families and community groups.

Trainee Visitor Experience Assistant – Ref: EE08126

18.5 hours per week – fixed term for 12 months.

Training allowance of approx. £12,206 per annum/£12.65 per hour (based on a full-time allowance of £24,413 per annum).

We are looking for someone to support to our Visitor Experience Team by providing practical and administrative support with day-to-day activities, events, and front of house operations.

This placement is interesting and varied - your duties will include preparing and setting up for events and workshops, welcoming visitors to the Gallery and helping in the Gallery Shop.You will also assist with the ordering of stock and help to produce worksheets and other learning resources, in particular for the Sunday Art Club.
