Job summary

Northern Trains Limited is recruiting a Train Conductor for Skipton. You will ensure safe, timely operations, assist passengers, check tickets and provide route information. Expect a 35-hour rolling week with varied shifts including evenings and weekends during a 1-year apprenticeship.

The position offers a competitive salary during training with progression on completion, plus benefits and the Northern benefits package. Training centres are in Leeds and Manchester, and DBS checks apply.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate train equipment, doors and controls.
• Greet passengers and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Check tickets and validate travel cards.
• Provide information on routes, schedules and connections.
• Make announcements and update passengers clearly.
• Ensure safe boarding and support passengers during travel.
• Handle delays, emergencies and incidents with calm leadership.
