Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Trainee Quality Advisor for our Power Transmission & Distribution team in Elgin. You will support the delivery of projects by ensuring compliance with BB requirements, and by helping to develop and monitor quality plans, inspection plans and test plans with the project teams and supply chain.

You will assist in audits, drive continuous improvement, and utilise digital tools to support project governance, containment actions and handover records.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-start meetings for significant projects and QA/QC requirements.
  • Support quality plans and inspection/test plans, ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Provide quality advice to the supply chain and assist delivery teams.
  • Utilise systems to establish and agree sample/benchmark plans with customers.
  • Monitor quality planning and deliverables using digital tools and report on risks.

Amazing infrastructure isn’t the only thing that gets built here. Incredible careers do too. Join Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution team as a Trainee Quality Advisor in Elgin and help deliver critical infrastructure that powers communities across the region.

To support Balfour Beatty, deliver the project in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice.

To support the co-ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues. To ensure implementation of procedures including submissions from the supply chain and establishing test and inspection plans for delivery of the works.

What you'll be doing
  • Attend pre-start meetings for significant projects (either in terms of value, complexity or QA/QC requirements)
  • Support project teams in developing the quality plans / inspection & test plans are being followed and that customer/project requirements are being met, and review those from the supply chain
  • Assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, and managing issues as required, also providing Quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate
  • Use existing systems to allow sample and benchmark plans to be established and agreed with customers and supply chain
  • Use digital systems to monitor the performance of quality planning / production of quality deliverables / managing of issues against targets
  • Support project team in collating and delivering handover records as per customer’ requirements, on time
  • Working to the processes and procedures of the Business Management System
  • Support the Quality team during internal and external audits
  • Assist in training, coaching and developing quality skills, including sharing lessons learned
  • Support the establishment of a continual improvement culture
  • Support the use of appropriate digital toolset to support the project governance and quality assurance/ measures on the project, including training of those tools

Who we're looking for

  • Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Awareness of sector specific certifications and their requirements
  • Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems / Electronic Forms
  • Operational experience in construction or asset management.
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 Terminology
