Job summary

Freudenberg Flow Technologies in Port Talbot is seeking a motivated Trainee Painter to gain hands-on experience in coating and finishing processes on a wide range of components. You will receive training and work safely to develop practical skills.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and operating spray-painting equipment safely and effectively.
• Mixing paints and coating materials to correct specifications for consistent finishes.
• Preparing surfaces for coating, including cleaning, sanding, and masking.
• Applying primer coats in accordance with work instructions.
• Applying final coats to a high standard with quality and consistency.
• Inspecting completed products for quality and customer requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
• Following health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.

Trainee Painter

Responsibilities

• As a Trainee Painter, you will receive training and practical experience in the following areas:
• Setting up and operating spray-painting equipment safely and effectively.
• Mixing paints and coating materials to the correct specifications to ensure a consistent finish.
• Preparing surfaces for coating, including cleaning, sanding, and masking as required.
• Applying primer coats where necessary in accordance with work instructions.
• Applying final coats to a high standard, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Inspecting completed products to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, including the cleaning and maintenance of spray equipment and the surrounding work area.
• Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.

Qualifications

• An interest in painting, coating, or manufacturing processes and a willingness to learn.
• Good concentration levels and the ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Good practical and hands‑on skills.
• A safety‑conscious approach to work and a commitment to following health and safety procedures.
• Good hand‑to‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Normal colour vision to ensure accurate colour matching and quality inspection.
• A positive attitude towards learning new skills and accepting feedback.
• Willingness to undertake training in surface preparation, blasting, spraying, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and attention to detail.
• A reliable and flexible approach to work.
