Job summary

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils are recruiting an trainee HGV driver within the Operations Team. The role includes fully funded training to become a qualified HGV driver within 2–6 months, with CPC and DVLA tests. You will help with waste collection and support the depot team while you complete required safety and driving qualifications.

Starting salary is 25,948 (inc. real living wage) and will rise to 28,415 once qualified and while driving an HGV.

Qualifications

• Full (Category B) driving licence (2+ years) with no more than 3 penalty points.
• Provisional HGV licence and pass the DVLA HGV Theory and Hazard Perception tests.
• Meet DVLA medical and eyesight requirements; obtain CPC modules 2 and 4.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of waste following Council methods and safety rules.
• Work in a team to deliver high‑quality waste collection services.
• Operate in‑cab technology and assist with administration tasks as required.
