Job summary

Metro Rod West Yorkshire in West Leeds is hiring a Trainee Drainage Engineer for a 45-hour week. You’ll learn to clean, clear, repair and maintain drains for domestic and commercial customers, with on-call duties to support 24/7 service.

No previous drainage experience is required as full training is provided. You should be practical and hardworking, enjoy a hands-on trade, and be prepared to work outdoors in all conditions.

45 hours per week
Salary £29,741 - £31,590 basic salary plus on-call, overtime (£12.71 - £13.50) Metro Rod work with the likes of Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonalds, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, is also Willow Pumps and Filta. Two expanding businesses that focus on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one-stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.

The Role

This role is ideal for someone practical, hardworking and keen to build a long-term career in the drainage industry. You may already have experience in construction, utilities, groundworks or another hands-on environment, or simply be looking for an opportunity to learn a skilled trade. No previous drainage experience is essential, as full training will be provided—but you’ll need a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and be comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.

What does it entail?

• Carrying out a range of services associated with the cleaning, clearance, repair, and maintenance of our domestic and commercial customers’ drains
• Operation of High-Pressure Water Jetting Equipment in line with rigorous safety standards
• Carrying out surveys
• Providing an exceptional standard of customer service and technical expertise
• Accurately recording work/job details via a range of bespoke internal/client systems and apps
• Communicate effectively with high profile commercial and domestic clients and Metro Rod Support Centre colleagues to ensure excellent customer service is always provided
• Being part of an on-call rota to help service our clients 24/7 / 365 days a year. This would be one week in four– variable according to the business needs
