Job summary

David Leslie Ltd in Essex is seeking a Trainee Construction Project Manager to join its project management team. You will gain hands-on experience on live healthcare, education, and commercial projects, supporting day-to-day management and learning the full project lifecycle from pre-start planning to handover.

This role emphasizes training and progression; you will work alongside experienced project managers, develop programmes, coordinate subcontractors, and support procurement, cost control

Qualifications

• Previous practical construction experience or exposure to site/office roles is essential.
• Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Confident in communicating with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Willingness to learn and develop both practical and commercial skills.
• Basic numeracy and interest in the commercial side of construction.
• Reliable, professional approach and willingness to work both in the office and on site.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the day-to-day management of live construction projects
• Helping prepare and update project programmes and monitor progress against key dates
• Attending sites and coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
• Assisting with procurement of materials, plant and subcontract packages
• Learning how valuations, variations, purchase orders, costs and project forecasting are managed
• Maintaining client updates, meeting notes, photographs and project records
• Supporting quality inspections, snagging, certification, health & safety and final handover
