Job summary

GVR Solutions Ltd is seeking a Trainee Project Manager to join their Essex-based team. The role involves taking responsibility for live construction projects from start to finish, liaising with clients and managing subcontractors to drive progress.

You will oversee programmes, organise materials, monitor costs and ensure safety standards are met across education, healthcare, commercial, and other sectors.

Qualifications

Project Manager Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently working with a well-established building and refurbishment contractor who are seeking a Trainee Project Manager to join their team. As a main contractor, they deliver a varied range of projects across the education, healthcare, commercial, heritage and public sectors, with schemes ranging from smaller refurbishment works through to larger construction projects.

They are looking for an experienced Project Manager who can take full responsibility for a range of live construction projects from start to finish, whilst liaising with the client and managing the subcontractors to drive the project forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish project programmes from the outset, monitor key milestones and take action to address any delays or potential risks.
• Oversee the day-to-day delivery of allocated schemes, coordinating site staff, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
• Organise materials, plant and subcontract packages, ensuring orders are placed in good time to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate the various trades on site, managing the order of works and ensuring subcontractors deliver to the required standards and timescales.
• Keep track of project expenditure and forecasts, overseeing valuations, variations, orders, subcontractor payments and invoicing.
• Maintain regular contact with clients, consultants and other stakeholders, providing updates on progress, costs, risks and outstanding actions.
• Maintain standards of workmanship throughout the project and oversee snagging, certification, O&M information and the final handover process.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with company procedures, including the use of RAMS, toolbox talks and appropriate site controls.

Requirements

• Previous experience overseeing construction projects through to completion.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, building materials and the sequencing of different trades.
• Good commercial awareness, with experience of project costs, valuations, variations and forecasting.
• Comfortable communicating and building relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Well organised with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
• A proactive approach to identifying issues and finding practical solutions.
• Sound knowledge of construction quality standards, health and safety and contract administration.
• Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Knowledge of project or programme software would be advantageous.
• Relevant qualification in construction or project management, or equivalent experience within the industry.
• SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification preferred.
• Valid CSCS card relevant to the position.
• Full UK driving licence.
