Job summary

JRS Associates Ltd has partnered with a leading engineering manufacturer to recruit a Trainee CNC Machinist, offering full training and development. You will learn to set and operate CNC milling machines and work alongside experienced engineers in a modern facility.

The role starts at £12.71 per hour with progression to £14.00 per hour after 6 months, within a 4 on / 4 off day shift. Permanent employment and long-term career progression are available, with potential to advance to a CNC Milling

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required; full training provided.
• 4 on / 4 off shift pattern is in place.
• Previous engineering/manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set and operate CNC milling machines.
• Load and unload components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Carry out basic quality checks.
• Use measuring equipment.
• Learn tooling and machine offsets.
• Work with experienced CNC machinists.
• Maintain high standards of quality and safety.

The Successful Trainee CNC Machinist will benefit from:

The Trainee CNC Machinist will be responsible for:

• Learning to set and operate CNC milling machines
• Loading and unloading components
• Learning how to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Carrying out basic quality checks

• Learning tooling and machine offsets
• Working alongside experienced CNC machinists
• Maintaining high standards of quality and safety
• Developing machining knowledge through structured training

The ideal Trainee CNC Machinist will have:

• A genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing
• A strong willingness to learn and develop
• Good attention to detail
• A reliable and positive attitude
• An interest in machinery and mechanical engineering
• Previous engineering, manufacturing, machine operating or college-based engineering experience would be advantageous but is not essential
• The ability to work a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern

Please note: The 4 on / 4 off shift runs continuously, meaning weekend working will be required when Saturdays and Sundays fall within the candidate's four working days.
