Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Trainee Clinical Coder based at West Cumberland Hospital. You will learn to extract diagnoses and procedures from health records, coding them with ICD-10 and OPCS-4, and inputting into the Patient Administration System.

Training may be residential and a 2-3 year pathway leads to Band 4 upon accreditation. The role includes initial on-site work with potential future home-working as systems evolve, and sponsorship checks

Qualifications

• GCSE English, maths and biology, including human anatomy and physiology or equivalent.
• Essential IT skills (EITS) or equivalent.
• NHS Digital Coding Foundation Certificate
• IHRIM ACC Qualification

Responsibilities

• Accurately extracting diagnoses and procedures and coding with ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
• Follow National Clinical Coding Standards to ensure high-quality data for statistics.
