Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is offering a training role in its Clinical Coding Department to become a fully qualified clinical coder. The role involves reviewing patient records, translating information into ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes, and meeting national coding timescales.

You will receive a structured training programme and support to achieve the National Clinical Coding Qualification. Previous coding experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy.

• Ability to extract relevant information from medical records.

Responsibilities

• Review patient health records and extract information relevant to the full episode of care.
• Interpret clinical information and identify diagnoses, conditions and procedures.
• Translate clinical information into ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes using approved systems and references.
• Ensure coded data is accurate, complete and entered within national timescales.
• Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to obtain missing or unclear information and resolve documentation queries.
• Manage and prioritise workloads to meet coding deadlines.
