Job summary

Unum UK is seeking a Trainee Claims Assessor to join our team. The role offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, based around Basingstoke or Dorking. You will receive full training and ongoing support to help you succeed and grow in the role.

As part of the Claims department, you will learn to assess claims, communicate with customers, and collaborate with colleagues while building a caseload. We value curiosity, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, case work or financial services may be helpful.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail are important.

Responsibilities

Position: Trainee Claims Assessor

Location: Basingstoke or Dorking (with hybrid working 3 days in office 2 days work from home)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assessing Claims: Learn to manage and assess claims using medical and policy knowledge.
• Customer Communication: Deliver clear, empathetic updates to customers throughout the claims process.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the Claims department while also managing your own caseload.
• Service Excellence: Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, always putting the customer first.

Experience in areas such as customer service, case work or financial services may be helpful or similar qualifications or experience in law, psychology, nursing or a related field have proved successful. We’re looking for individuals with strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a natural ability to solve problems and learn new information.
