Job summary

Arriva Kent & Surrey Limited is seeking a Trainee Bus Driver to join our team. You’ll receive full paid training to obtain your PCV licence, followed by a mentorship period to support your progress.

You'll work 5 out of 7 rotating shifts (early mornings, middays and evenings) with planning up to 6–8 weeks in advance. The role offers ongoing CPC training and a wide range of staff benefits, including free bus travel for you and your family and access to the Arriva Village discounts.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Minimum 6 months driving experience.
• No more than 6 points on licence.
• Pass drug and alcohol test.
• Great people and customer service skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts.

Trainee Bus Driver

£12.71 - £17.87 per hour

Pay Rates

During Training (first 4-6 weeks) - £12.71 per hour.

Rates after Training:

• Monday to Friday – £12.71 first 9 months, then £16.85 per hour.
• Weekends and Overtime – £12.71 first 9 months, then £17.87 per hour.

Pay rates reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

Training

Full paid training where you'll receive your PCV licence. Training will last approximately 4 weeks at our Northfleet depot, followed by a mentorship period for a few additional weeks.

Ongoing CPC training and other development opportunities.

Hours of Work

5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6–8 weeks in advance.

Mornings start from 04:00, Afternoons from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis.

No fixed early, afternoon or evening shifts. Overtime available on request/availability.
