Job summary

AECOM Bristol Streets team is seeking an enthusiastic Engineer to help design and deliver traffic engineering and urban realm projects from feasibility through to construction. You’ll contribute to safer, greener streets and more livable towns as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You will develop your technical expertise, work with clients such as WECA PSF2 and local authorities, and build a rewarding career in transport infrastructure within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing feasibility, preliminary, and detailed designs for local roads and traffic schemes.
• Familiarity with alignment, drainage, pavements, road restraint systems, signage, and markings.
• Knowledge of cycling infrastructure, traffic calming, junction design, and footway improvements.
• Understanding of TSRGD, Manual for Streets, DMRB, and the Traffic Signs Manual.
• Awareness of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering and streetscape schemes.
• Prepare high-quality technical outputs including drawings, reports and specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners and technicians across AECOM.
• Deliver assigned tasks to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
• Promote and apply Health & Safety best practice, including CDM principles.
• Support site visits, surveys and project meetings where required.
• Provide regular updates to the Senior Engineer or Project Manager on project progress.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and project deliverables.
• Participate in training and development activities to build technical and professional knowledge.
