Job summary

AECOM in Birmingham is seeking a Civil Engineer to design and deliver Roads, Traffic Engineering, Active Travel and Urban Realm schemes. The role offers hybrid working, a broad multi-disciplinary environment, and opportunities to mentor graduates while delivering high-quality infrastructure.

You will contribute to concept through to detailed design, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with design standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• A confident and capable engineer with a strong background in Roads, Active Travel and Traffic Engineering.
• A relevant degree and be working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a recognised Professional Institution or have equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of Roads, Traffic Engineering, Active Travel, and Urban Realm schemes.
• Prepare technical outputs including drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Ensure all work meets project briefs, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across AECOM and external stakeholders.
• Delegate and coordinate tasks for graduates and technicians, supporting their development.
• Champion Health & Safety best practices, including CDM responsibilities.
• Report regularly to the Project Manager on progress and risks.
