Job summary

Leicestershire County Council's Transport Projects and Programmes team is seeking a Technician to support Senior Engineers in delivering highway improvement schemes, including traffic signal renewals, junction improvements, and walking/cycling infrastructure.

The role involves design, drawings, site supervision, and traffic signal commissioning, with on-site visits to construction locations. Candidates should have GCSEs and GIS experience and be capable of working to tight timescales.

Qualifications

GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grades A-C / 4-9 or equivalent), or relevant demonstrable experience.
Experience using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) or similar mapping software to record, interrogate and extract data.
Ability to read, interpret and work with maps, plans and technical information.

Responsibilities

Assist in preliminary and detailed design for transport schemes.
Prepare technical drawings and documentation.
Site supervision and traffic signal commissioning.
Junction modelling using specialist software packages.
Support projects through to successful delivery and travel to construction sites as required.
