Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a full-time Public Transport Technician to support the Sustainable Travel Team in improving county bus services. You will maintain bus stop infrastructure and timetable information, with a vehicle provided for duties and daily checks.

The role requires independent work in outdoor settings, with flexibility for out-of-hours tasks when needed, and strong numeracy and IT skills to input data and analyse service information.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (or GCSEs A-C) or equivalent; able to demonstrate public-facing experience.
• Full driving licence; applicants with >5 penalty points will not be considered.
• Good numeracy and data handling skills using Word/Excel.
• Physically able to install and inspect bus stop facilities.
• Health & Safety awareness; PPE use and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install and audit bus stop facilities and information displays.
• Input and update information into databases and spreadsheets.
• Assist collection, manipulation and analysis of bus service data.
• Assist in producing roadside notices, timetables and waysides.
