The role

As a Senior Analyst for Trade Surveillance, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring trading activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and upholding regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities will include conducting trade and communications surveillance, investigating potential issues, enhancing monitoring tools, and maintaining effective communication during investigations.

You will work across multiple markets such as crude oil, refined products, renewables, and natural gas, supporting the business by ensuring adherence to global commodity trading standards.

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct risk-based trade surveillance using tools like Nasdaq Trade Surveillance to identify potential market irregularities.
• Review electronic communications to investigate inappropriate discussions or comments, while managing communications tools and vendor relations.
• Thoroughly investigate daily alerts, escalate significant issues, and provide regular updates on compliance risks or themed reviews.
• Collaborate across global teams to ensure consistent monitoring and develop a detailed surveillance playbook.
• Enhance trade and communication surveillance tools to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies relating to trading activities and communicate effectively in potentially complex situations.

Role Requirements

• We’re seeking candidates who bring both expertise and passion for this vital role.
• Relevant experience in a commercial trading function, with a focus on compliance and regulatory oversight.
• Strong knowledge of derivatives markets, including crude oil, refined products, renewables, and natural gas.
• Experience with energy trading and risk management systems (e.g., Allegro, Right Angle, Aligne, SAP4).
• Knowledge of global commodity trading regulations, such as Dodd-Frank, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, and the UK Financial Services and Markets Act.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI for designing tailored reports and dashboards.
