About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trade Planning Senior Analyst to join Tesco on a 9-12 month Parental Leave Cover Contract. This role supports the rollout of strategic initiatives, helping to shape price and promotion strategies through insightful analysis and advanced modeling techniques.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience managing large data volumes using modern processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop).

Responsibilities
  1. Support delivery of strategic projects across product and channel teams, e.g., Price Index development, Promotional Optimization, Trade Plan delivery.
  2. Design and perform analyses for projects like indexing & competitiveness, investment modeling, promotional optimization, price architecture, range and space optimization, regression analysis, and trade forecasting.
  3. Identify and resolve complex data issues to ensure accurate analysis.
  4. Support end-to-end processes from planning and forecasting to performance review and insights.
  5. Create dashboards in Tableau.
  6. Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, and automate processes.
  7. Collaborate with product division teams to align and execute commercial strategies.
  8. Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and develop solutions.
  9. Conduct ad hoc research and analysis to diagnose performance issues.
Requirements

Operational Skills:

  • Experience with large data handling and processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop).
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Data visualization skills, particularly in Tableau.
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with Python, VBA, or other visualization tools.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Practical experience using data to make impactful decisions, with a focus on customer experience.
