Job summary

Omega Plc in Belthorn, Lancashire is recruiting a Toolmaker to maintain, repair, and modify injection moulding tools within a modern, food-grade manufacturing facility. You will work with hot runner systems, lathes, mills, grinders, and contribute to machine uptime.

The role requires proven toolmaking experience, an apprenticeship, and the ability to diagnose issues on the shop floor. It offers a Monday–Friday days pattern, a structured onboarding, and a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven Injection Moulding Toolmaker experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, repair, and maintenance.
• Competence in turning, milling, surface grinding, and universal grinding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repair, and modification of injection moulding tools.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling issues on the shop floor and in the toolroom.
• Work on hot runner systems and support production performance.
• Operate manual centre lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and grinding equipment.
• Conduct precision machining to maintain tooling to high quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance tool performance and reliability.
• Manage workload and plan tooling activities during quieter periods.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to minimise downtime.

Salary Range: £43,243.49 - £47,675.95 per annum

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday Days | 40 Hours per Week

Qualifications / Experience

• Proven experience as an Injection Moulding Toolmaker within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, repair, and maintenance techniques.
• Fully competent in manual machining disciplines including turning, milling, surface grinding, and universal grinding.
• Experience working with hot runner systems.
• Ability to fault-find and diagnose tooling issues on the shop floor.
• Recognised Toolmaking Apprenticeship and relevant engineering qualifications are highly desirable.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
