Job summary

Omega Resource Group in Blackburn is seeking a Toolmaker for our modern food-grade manufacturing facility. You will maintain, repair and modify injection moulding tools and support production performance on the shop floor.

The role requires expertise with turning, milling, surface grinding and hot runner systems, plus fault-finding on tooling. A recognised Toolmaking Apprenticeship and engineering qualifications are highly desirable; self-motivation and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Injection Moulding Toolmaker in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, repair and maintenance techniques.
• Fully competent in manual machining: turning, milling, grinding.
• Experience with hot runner systems.
• Able to fault-find and diagnose tooling issues on the shop floor.
• Recognised Toolmaking Apprenticeship and engineering qualifications are highly desirable.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement to enhance tool performance and reliability.
• Manage workload and undertake planned tooling activities during quieter production periods.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.

Salary: £43,243.49 - £47,675.95 per annum

Shift: Monday to Friday Days | 40 Hours per Week
Overtime Available (Including Weekends When Required)

Responsibilities - Toolmaker

• Carry out maintenance, repair, and modification of injection moulding tools.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling issues both within the toolroom and on the production floor.
• Work on hot runner systems and support production performance.
• Operate manual centre lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and universal grinding equipment.

• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance tool performance and reliability.
• Manage workload effectively and proactively undertake planned tooling activities during quieter production periods.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.

Qualifications / Experience - Toolmaker

• Proven experience as an Injection Moulding Toolmaker within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, repair, and maintenance techniques.
• Fully competent in manual machining disciplines including turning, milling, surface grinding, and universal grinding.
• Experience working with hot runner systems.
• Ability to fault-find and diagnose tooling issues on the shop floor.
• Recognised Toolmaking Apprenticeship and relevant engineering qualifications are highly desirable.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
