Job summary

BSS Industrial, part of the Travis Perkins Group, is hiring a Tool Hire Assistant in the Glasgow area. You will be the first point of contact in the Tool Hire Centre, helping customers choose the right tools, preparing quotes, and coordinating collections and deliveries to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

We value friendly, proactive people who can learn quickly, work well in a team, and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment. Full UK driving licence is preferred to support deliveries.

Qualifications

• Experience in tool hire not required, but a friendly, helpful and professional approach is essential.
• Able to communicate clearly with customers face-to-face and over the telephone.
• Able to learn new systems, products and processes quickly.
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
• Attention to detail when completing hire contracts and admin tasks.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers at the trade counter and help them select tools and equipment.
• Handle customer enquiries in person and by phone.
• Prepare quotes and process hire agreements.
• Organise and coordinate equipment collections and returns.
• Carry out administrative duties associated with the hire process.
• Ensure hired equipment is available, prepared and presented to standard.
• Support the Branch Manager with day-to-day Tool Hire Centre operations.
• Assist with safe use and hire of equipment per company procedures.
• Carry out deliveries and collections when required during busy periods.
