Job summary

CNC Recruitment South West Ltd is assisting a timber manufacturing business in Somerset to recruit a Sawmill Operative / Timber Machinist. You will operate timber machining equipment, process orders accurately and safely, and support the production team to maximise yield and minimise waste.

Ideal candidates have timber machining or sawmill experience, good Maths and attention to detail, and a willingness to learn within a team environment. Forklift experience is a plus.

• Good basic education with emphasis on Maths.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good teamwork and communication within a production environment.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible to support production needs.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Responsibilities

• Select suitable timber for customer orders.
• Operate timber machining equipment safely and efficiently.
• Cut, saw and machine timber to required specifications.
• Maximise timber yield and minimise waste.
• Record production information accurately.
• Stack, band, label and prepare orders for dispatch.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure customer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
• Support other production and sawmill activities as required.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
