Job summary

Gap Personnel Limited is recruiting a Timber Machinist to join a sawmill team in South Petherton, Somerset. You will cut and machine timber to order using rip saws, bandsaws and moulders, ensuring accurate measurements and efficient use of timber.

The role is Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm, 40 hours weekly, with a pay of £13.85–£14.50 per hour. Benefits include 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, free parking and on-site canteen, with training available for product specifics.

Qualifications

• Previous sawmill or woodworking machinery experience.
• Able to measure accurately and meet deadlines.
• Physically capable of lifting timber.
• Forklift licence is useful though not essential.

Responsibilities

• Select timber and cut or machine to order specifications.
• Check measurements and quality of finished products.
• Use rip saws, bandsaws and moulders safely and efficiently.
• Record work on production paperwork or systems.
• Stack, band and label orders for dispatch.
• Keep work area clean, tidy and safe.
