Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Group is seeking a Sawmill Machine Operator in Yeovil to work across a full range of sawmill machinery. You will be paid up to £14.50 per hour, reflecting the skill and precision required. The role emphasizes accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to specifications.

You will receive full training on-site, plus development opportunities within the department. On-site parking and canteen facilities are provided to support a convenient working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a timber sawmill or similar manufacturing environment.
• Basic maths education.
• Fluent spoken English.
• Forklift licence advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Good time-management skills to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Select timber boards suited to each works order.
• Operate rip saws, bandsaws, the beam saw and moulders to fulfil orders accurately and safely.
• Maximise yield from every piece of timber processed.
• Record sawn and machined timber accurately on production paperwork and systems.
• Stack, band and label completed orders safely and presentably.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area.
