Job summary

YG Engineering Ltd in Hitchin is seeking an experienced MIG/TIG Welder for a permanent, full-time role. You will weld thin to medium gauge sheet metal and decorative panels to a high cosmetic standard, reading engineering drawings and using stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.

The role requires meticulous workmanship and pride in quality, with on-site duties in a modern manufacturing environment, offering stable, long-term career prospects and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven MIG and TIG welding experience in sheet metal or fabrication.
• Ability to produce clean, high-quality cosmetic welds.
• Experience welding thin gauge materials.
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
• Aluminium TIG welding experience is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship.

Responsibilities

• MIG and TIG welding thin to medium gauge sheet metal components.
• Manufacture decorative and architectural metalwork to a high cosmetic standard.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Work with stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
• Inspect your own work to ensure highest quality standards.

Join one of the UK's leading sheet metal subcontract manufacturers, producing high-quality fabricated components and decorative metalwork for a diverse range of industries.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a skilled MIG/TIG Welder to join their established fabrication team.

Working with thin to medium gauge materials, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality welded assemblies and decorative panels where attention to detail and workmanship are paramount.

What you'll be doing

• MIG and TIG welding thin to medium gauge sheet metal components


• Manufacturing decorative and architectural metalwork to a high cosmetic standard


• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings


• Working with stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium materials


• Inspecting your own work to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved


• Supporting fabrication and assembly activities where required

What we’re looking for

• Proven MIG and TIG welding experience within a sheet metal or fabrication environment


• Ability to produce clean, high-quality cosmetic welds
  
• Experience welding thin gauge materials


• Ability to read and work from technical drawings


• Aluminium TIG welding experience would be highly advantageous
