Job summary

Aspris's Fromefield Manor School in Frome, Somerset, is recruiting a Therapy Assistant to join our Education team. Working in a new SEN school for pupils aged 11-19 with autism and complex needs, you will support learners to achieve outcomes in line with their ECHP.

The role involves assisting clinicians, planning and delivering group and 1:1 occupational therapy and recreational activities, recording observations, and creating visual resources.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with pupils with ASD is desirable.
• Knowledge of TEACCH and PECS systems would be advantageous.
• A psychology degree is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assisting trained clinicians with the preparation.
• Planning and delivery of group and one-to-one occupational therapeutic and recreational activities.
• Observing, recording and reporting to the assigned clinician as appropriate.
• Creating appealing visual resources for sessions.
• Managing a caseload of students.
• Planning, running, and recording 1:1 and group therapy sessions across various therapies.
• Assists with assessment and transition of new learners ensuring familiarity with the environment.
• Creation of initial supporting documentation such as Individual Placement Plans and Provision Maps.
• Ensures timely updating of clinical records and data as directed; responds to routine enquiries.
• IT skills such as Word and Excel to support surveys and data analysis.
