Job summary

Compass Community Schools is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and other SEND. The role involves 1:1 or small group work, resource management, and safeguarding responsibilities, with emphasis on resilience, communication, and flexible support.

You will contribute to therapeutic training and help create an engaging learning environment across classes, supporting both academic and social development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with diverse needs is beneficial.
• Good command of English and Mathematics is desirable.
• Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and training.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning.
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially.
• Maintain basic English and Maths understanding.
• Support safety through strong behaviour management.
• Create engaging activities and displays to support learning.
• Contribute to the school’s therapeutic training sessions.
