Job summary

Compass Community Schools in Colchester is seeking Teaching Assistants to support learning for children with SEMH/SEND. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, manage resources, help with trips, and promote safety and well-being.

You’ll wear many hats, stay flexible, and collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to create a positive learning environment. Candidates should have strong English and Maths basics, be resilient, patient, and committed to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Good working knowledge of English and Maths
• Ability to manage behaviour and keep pupils safe
• Willingness to engage in therapeutic training and development

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in small groups or 1:1
• Manage classroom resources
• Take children on educational trips
• Liaise with teachers and therapists to support learning goals
• Help create engaging displays and learning environments
