Job summary

Compass Community is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH/SEND. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, assist with learning, manage resources, and accompany students on educational trips.

You’ll also engage in creating supportive displays and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom environment. Applicants should have good English and Maths, strong communication, and resilience to support children with challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviours in an educational setting.
• Strong communication skills with children, parents and staff.
• Able to support literacy and numeracy through activities.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in classrooms.
• Work with children one-to-one or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and organise activities.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with pupils who struggle socially.
• Maintain safety and apply behaviour management strategies.
• Create and run games to develop social skills.
• Create displays to support learning and a positive environment.
